Kennedy Center Faculty Summer Fellowships In: Costume, Scenery & Lighting

The national design fellowship honorees (one nationally in each of these three design areas: costumes, scenery, and lighting) will receive a grant for travel and lodging, as well as per diem, to attend the KCACTF Summer Design Intensives, June 2006, presented by the Kennedy Center with Ming Cho Lee, Constance Hoffman and Beverly Emmons as master teachers.

Each of the eight KCACTF regions will name one of their faculty members in each of the three design areas as the outstanding teaching artist in their area of specialty. The Regional Design Chair and Design Vice-Chair will review the application material from those candidates who have self-nominated as well as review the recommendations from respondents. After the selected faculty members have agreed to the nomination, application materials will be forwarded to Ming Cho Lee, Beverly Emmons and Constance Hoffman who will make the final decisions.

If you are interested in self-nominating, please apply by sending the following materials:

  • A letter of application clearly expressing in which design area you specialize, and detailing your accomplishments as a designer and teacher of design. Be sure to include a statement concerning why you are interested in participating in the workshop and the ways in which you believe it may contribute to your professional growth.

  • Be sure your application details your participation, and your institution's participation, in KCACTF activities. Of particular interest is the record of participation in KCACTF activities by your design students.

  • Affirm your availability for the National Design Fellowship Summer Workshop in summer of 2007.

  • Include a complete curriculum vita, and informal portfolio materials.

  • Please do not include materials that must be returned.

  • Reference letters are not required, but are suggested.

  • You may nominate someone other than yourself for the fellowship, but to do so, please be sure to have the nominee's permission first and include all of their materials listed above.
These materials are to be sent via US mail or e-mail to:
