Actors Center Teacher Development Workshop Fellowship

The Actors Center Teacher Development Program aims to make current master teachers available for those purposes to all other teachers of acting. For eleven days in June 2007 (precise schedule is yet to be determined), the Actors Center offers a two-week workshop with two internationally acclaimed Master Teachers. All sessions are held in the Actor's Center studios on 27th Street in New York. While the Actors Center Teacher Development program is offered as a seminar for the benefit of established acting teachers and established actors who are starting to teach, it will be conducted essentially as an acting class. Everyone will "work on their feet" every day in class. Questions will be answered in "the doing" and/or afternoon discussion sessions.

The fellowship honoree (one nationally; occasionally more than one may be selected pending available funding) will receive travel and lodging for this extraordinary professional development opportunity.

Each of the eight KCACTF regions may nominate one of their faculty members for this fellowship. The Regional Executive Committee will review the application material from those candidates who have self-nominated as well as review the recommendations from respondents. After the selected faculty member has agreed to the nomination, application material will be forwarded to the National Executive Committee who will review the eight faculty awardees' materials and forward up to three candidates to J. Michael Miller of the Actors Center, who will then make the final fellowship award.

If you are interested in self-nominating, please apply by sending the following materials:

  • A letter of application detailing your accomplishments as a teacher of acting, as well as your career as a professional actor. Be sure to include a statement concerning why you are interested in participating in the workshop and the ways in which you believe it may contribute to your professional growth.

  • Be sure your application details your participation, and your institution's participation, in KCACTF activities.

  • Affirm your availability for the workshop in June of 2007.

  • Include a complete curriculum vita, and actor resume. Please do not include materials that must be returned.

  • Reference letters are not required, but are suggested.

  • You may nominate someone other than yourself for the fellowship, but to do so, please be sure to have the nominee's permission first and include all of their materials listed above.

These materials are to be sent via US mail or e-mail to:
